The River was Trashed...Muddy Water Bass on the Tidal Rappahannock River
With Remnant's of Hurricane Debby dumping 2-4" of rain over Virginia, I knew the river systems would be high and muddy for awhile. However after about a week I thought the Rappahannock River would have cleared up and fishing retuned to normal. Boy was I wrong, we had to dodge a few floaters on our way down river in search of some good bass fishing. The water clarity was les than 6" and you could see the silt in the water moving as the tides flowed. I was expecting the day to be lost...but we stuck it out.

    Well, as your biggest fan...lol, I watched this video 2 days too late. I looked ALL over for the original plug stamped on my engine tag, but Joe from Barnacle Bills helped me to determine that the plug number had been updated to the QC10WEP, so I bought them from him (at twice the price), to support his business and compensate him for the help. Normally, I'd be looking for the best deal though. Thanks so much for all your videos and help, as always.

    Thanks for the video series. I'm familiar with finders but not the GS4 so it was helpful since I just got a boat with one of these installed. Regarding the flasher mode that people use for ice fishing, I would note that the flasher display is merely the A-scope rendered in a circle, which shows it a bit larger and easier to see than the A-scope on the traditional sonar screen. I have a different type of sonar for ice fishing that also has both options. Personally I don't see any value in the flasher mode. Why restrict yourself to just using the A-scope (i.e., flasher display) when you could use the traditional sonar and see both the A-scope and the sonar history. The history is a great tool to have so you can see what's been going on if you've looked away from your sonar screen, and lets face it, you're not facing the screen every second you're fishing.

    • @1Cast1Fish
      @1Cast1Fish 16 годин тому

    • @1Cast1Fish
      @1Cast1Fish 9 днів тому

      1st do you have the diagnostics software? T-Stat should be 143 degree Max Temps 230 below 3000rpm, 194 above 3000 rpm. EMM Maz should be 212 Typical Engine Temp should be around 160 +-20 at idle...WOT 120+-20 at WOT Code 29 is EMM temp >176 and limits engine to 1200 rpm So with those basics out of the way, the best way to see whats happening and when, is to use the software and watch the temps in real time during operation to see what is going on and when. I would start with the obvious first...is it a good flow of water out the back? Is it a idle issue or a WOT issue or all of the above? Good water pressure? (Waterpump) Are the intake screens messed up or plugged? How old are the T-Stats? If over 3 or they are very dirty...just replace them (trust me on this one) If issue is at higher rpm could be the backpressure relief valve. I would make sure these areas are good before tearing all the hoses off. Also is it saltwater use? How old? Look up how to do a cleaning flush on the motor to clean the passages as well. It could be many things or a combo of things honestly, just use a good methodical trouble shooting with the easiest things first.

Kinda blows my mind to tell you the truth. But making a knife or air rifle video all I have to do is go into my back yard in the woods on my properrty with 1 camera lol! I just got one of these the other day and turned it on for the first tike yesterday but not in the water when i went to way point the north arrow and boat icon were both facing south. Do i need to re try turning it on in the water and let it locate or should it work out of the water?

      You must be moving normally for the arrow to be accurate...it's using your changing GPS location to determine your heading

      @@1Cast1Fish when you screw into the filter doe's the screw ruin the filter being removed? like if mines clean can I reuse it?thanks

      You can, if you screw it in very lightly and pull...if it comes out easily then it probably can be cleaned and reused. However they are pretty cheap to replace. I just like knowing a new clean one is in there since you have alot of work to get in there to it already. Plus if you do have issues or it's messed up you want a replacement on hand.

      The Champs are what Evinrude recommends so that is what I have always ran...I heard of others using different plugs but with mixed results.

    I can’t seem to get arches I’m guessing it’s because I’m in a kayak not moving fast enough or sometimes I’m anchored on a school of bait

      The GT20 is considerably larger than the base model and if CV is not really a need for you, then definitely stick to the cheaper base unit. Thank you :)

    These gen 1 engines were actually pretty reliable. People just don’t take care of them and they tend to run crappy fuel through them.

      Proper maintenance and good fuel are very important in theses G1's...properly taken care of motors last a looooooong time

      Most parts are still available and many used motors can be had pretty cheap. Depends on hours, maintenance, and price.
